Vaping is the new, healthy alternative to smoking the traditional cigarettes. A vape is powered by a battery, to the atomiser, containing a coil, heating liquid. It may sound technical at the start, however, knowing the different components and how it changes your vape experience as a whole will make your daily habit more enjoyable with the countless amounts delicious flavours to choose from that are created worldwide!
The mod is the battery component of your vape setup. The mod can either have an internal LiPo battery that charges via micro USB (like your mobile phone), or the mod may require external rechargeable batteries (18350, 18490, 18650, 20700, 26650, etc, like a flashlight, but not the same torch batteries due to their low amp ratings, suggested 15-30amps) that are recommended to be charged safely in an external battery charger. A variable voltage mod is a mod that features a setting's adjustment to match the resistance and battery's standards. A mechanical mod is a mod that connects an external rechargeable battery directly from the firing trigger to the atomiser's resistance, requiring the vaper's complete understanding to Ohm's Law and Battery Safety.

An atomiser is the component that produces the vape experience; heat, vapour production, and flavour. A clearomiser atomiser is an atomiser made by a manufacturer to fit its own pre-made coils to make it more convenience for the on-the-go vaper. Usually in tank form, clearomisers range from a 2mL to 6mL capacity. A coil is the name of the element vapourising the liquid; it it made up of wire wound around to fit cotton through. A rebuildable atomiser (RBA) is a connected rebuildable atomiser deck for manufacturer's clearomisers big enough to fit a build deck and custom coil for advancing vapers. A rebuildable dripping atomiser (RDA) is an atomiser designed with a removable cap to a customisable build deck with ample space for bigger, more custom coils, allowing the vaper to change the flavour more often. A rebuildable tank atomiser (RTA) is an atomiser designed with a build deck, as well as an integrated top tank portion to hold more liquid for vapers who customise for a specific favourited flavour. A rebuildable dripper tank atomiser (RDTA) is an atomiser designed like an RDA with the tank portion at the bottom, flowing the liquid upwards towards the coils.
** Depending on the vaper's daily usage, the coils are recommended to be changed whenever the flavour begins to fade away or whenever the experience begins to taste burnt - typically 3 days for the rebuildable vapers to 2 weeks for the clearomiser vapers. **
E-liquid is absorbed into the cotton of the coil and is vapourised from the wire heating up. E-liquid is subjective to the vaper's taste palates. Not everyone likes the same type of food, not everyone fancies the same beverage, not everyone liked the same cigarettes as their best mates. There are many different types of e-liquid; standard tobacco flavours, fruit flavours, creamy dessert flavours, chilly menthol flavours, even beverage and food flavours! E-liquid is made up up of two primary ingredients: vegetable glycerin (VG) which is the smoothing, thickening, vapour producing element to the liquid, and propylene glycol (PG) which is the thinner, more flavourful based of the liquid. The flavourings are made with natural and artificial bases, depending on the manufacturer.
To any new vaper, finding your favourite flavour will be a trial-and-error process. Understanding each component of your vape setup to its fullest extent will make a fun vape experience.
